Locally Owned Asheville Gyms to Join in 2021

While gyms were initially hit hard during the pandemic, many of them adapted quickly with online offerings, outdoor classes, and new safety measures. Now they’re back open and ready to whip you into shape just in time for your New Year’s resolution.


1. Asheville Family Fitness
Asheville Family Fitness is open, requiring the use of face masks while inside the facility and aquatics courses, which are running on a limited capacity basis. Memberships start at $39/month.
Monday – Thursday: 6 AM to 8 PM
Friday: 6 AM to 7 PM
Saturday: 8 AM to 12 PM
Sunday: Closed

2. Biltmore Fitness
Biltmore is currently open on a limited-hours basis. Face masks are required while using the facilities with no exceptions. Some perks are currently unavailable, such as the sweat towels, lounge area, free coffee, smoothie machine, and sauna. Memberships start at $39/month.
Monday – Friday: 5 AM to 8 PM
Saturday: 6 AM – 5 PM
Sunday: 9 AM – 3 PM

3. Inspire Personal Fitness of Asheville
Inspire Personal Fitness offers small group personal training sessions with no more than 10 people. They are also offering Zoom sessions for anyone who isn’t ready to come into the gym yet. They’re currently offering a 7 day free trial.
Monday – Friday: 7 AM to 7 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 11 AM
Sunday: Closed

4. SuMMit CrossFit
SuMMit CrossFit is the largest CrossFit gym in Asheville, with six classes and open gym daily. Coaches are available. Social distancing and masks are required to work out. Memberships start at $130/month.
Monday – Thursday: 5:30 AM to 8 PM
Friday: 5:30 AM to 7 PM
Saturday: 7:30 AM to 12 PM
Sunday: 1 PM – 3 PM

5. Underground Fitness of Asheville
Underground Fitness offers high intensity interval training (HIIT) classes with a locals-only focus. They routinely sanitize surfaces and have socially distanced workout stations. Memberships start at $145/month.

6. Oakley Fitness Center
OFC is back to their 24/7 hours and boutique gym experience. Additionally, they offer Muay Thai classes, personal training, and a wrestling club. Social distancing is encouraged. Memberships start at $35/month.

7. CrossFit Asheville
CrossFit Asheville’s large facility is open and allows for social distancing. Masks are required to work out. Coaches are available at every session, and health & wellness packages are an option for members. Memberships start at $95/month.

8. Pisgah Fitness
Pisgah Fitness is open and offers a variety of different programs, including CrossFit. Masks and social distancing are encouraged, and members are welcome to take advantage of the gym’s outdoor facilities. Memberships start at $115/month.

Friday: 6 AM to 6:30 PM
Saturday: 9 AM to 11 AM
Sunday: 11 AM to 2 PM

9. Beer City CrossFit
Beer City CrossFit, owned and operated by a husband and wife duo—a disabled veteran and former competitive volleyball player—is open and ready to help you meet your fitness goals. Social distancing is required. They are currently offering a free trial.
Monday – Wednesday: 6 AM to 7:30 PM
Thursday: 6 AM to 6:30 PM
Friday: 6 AM to 7:30 PM
Saturday: 9 AM to 11:30 PM

10. Sōr Studios Asheville
Sōr, Asheville’s #1 cycling studio, is offering both in-person and online classes. Indoor classes do require both masks and social distancing. The new client special is a three-week unlimited package for $49.
