Asheville Yoga Festival
July 2017 - July 2017
The Asheville Yoga Festival is four days chock full of health, awareness, and wellness, including yoga classes around downtown Asheville. With over 30 local and national presenters, and 70+ offerings, you’ll find academic and participatory courses offered in all kinds of schools and styles along with music, outdoor activities and health/wellness vendors.
Among the highlights: musical performers Xavier Rudd on Friday, and MC Yogi/DJ Sol Rising on Saturday (at New Mountain AVL venue); Thursday all-day-intensives workshops; a vendor village at Vance Monument Park; free massage and acupuncture for attendees; a guided “vortex hike” in the nearby mountains with Deanne Hampton; a farm to table dinner at Local Provisions; and a post-Festival “Monday Morning Seva” with Chelsey Korus in which attendees will have to opportunity to participate in a French Broad River cleanup via canoes and kayaks.
Now in its 4th year, the event (formerly known as Asheville YogaFest) is under new ownership and direction by Asheville residents and veteran yoga practitioners Amanda Hale and Sara Levine LaStella. It was previously held in the Montford neighborhood and has now been transitioned to downtown locations including Pack Square Park, the YMI Cultural Center, Hilton Garden Inn, Hyatt Place, the Masonic Temple and the AC Marriott. A portion of proceeds will be donated to local nonprofit Light A Path; more information can be found at www.lightapath.org.
