Pam Granger Gale has opened Majik Studios in the Refinery Creator Space on the South Slope. The concept is to offer short, hands-on workshops on a semi-regular basis, beginning at 10AM and continuing into the afternoon, Monday through Saturday. The courses will be taught by ten resident artists, in addition to Gale, on topics including painting in oil, watercolor, acrylics, and plein-air; realism drawing and fanciful drawing with conversational Spanish; metal stamping; fiber arts; and Gale’s forte, marbling. A typical workshop will give students a chance to learn about the artform and produce a finished product. Gale is a National Board Certified elementary art teacher who has enjoyed teaching marbling and paper-making for 31 years at elementary schools, colleges, and other venues along the Eastern Seaboard. She studied her specialties under the tutelage of famous artists in the field in Virginia, and she set up a school much like Majik Studios on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Since moving to Asheville, she has continued to offer classes at places like the John C. Campbell Folk School, and she’s a member of the Asheville Arts Council.
