Artist Table “Jazz NOLA Style” @ The Gallery at Flat Rock
February 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$75
The Gallery at Flat Rock, which we profiled last November, has started a new quarterly event series to celebrate the arts called The Artist Table, which they describe thusly:
In keeping with the gallery’s mission to act as an incubator for creativity, the series will create a unique opportunity for highly talented people, working across a spectrum of fields, to share ideas in collaboration that pushes ordinary expectation to the limit… The series celebrates the creative process in a spirit of cross pollination— linking fine art, culinary expertise, wine pairings and live music for an eye-opening evening of fun, learning and unexpected outcomes.
Events will be limited to 40 participants. The first event, then, will certainly fulfill the stated objective: “Jazz NOLA Style” is a New Orleans themed evening with live jazz from the Richard Shulman Trio, a NOLA-style meal prepared by Chef Todd Mallin of Hubba Hubba Catering, wine pairing by Alan Ward of Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, and an interactive painting demonstration by Hendersonville-based painter Marsha Hammel (who created the painting shown above) in which she renders the jazz trio during their performance.
Things will kick off with a wine tasting from Ward, then guests will be seated and Mallin will serve his first course.
Hammel, incidentally, will have a featured artist solo show at the Gallery in April.
