The AC Hotel Asheville Downtown is now open for business. The hotel sits above a newly-renovated four-story parking deck offering 336 spaces shared with the public. Hotelier McKibbon Hospitality collaborated with Stratton Design Group, BB+M Architecture, and Winford Lindsay Architects for the upscale, design-driven project. The 132 guestrooms sport a plush but streamlined European look. More fascinating are the public spaces, which include meeting rooms with ultra-high ceilings and indoor-outdoor options. Décor has been enhanced with paintings, sculpture, and glasswork prepared by ten regional artists and selected by philanthropist CEO John McKibbon. The rooftop restaurant, Capella On 9, offers drinks and tapas in an open setting. This hotel is the 21st AC Hotel by Marriott to be opened in the United States, and the fourth Asheville hotel to be developed, owned, and managed by McKibbon Hospitality; the others being Aloft Asheville Downtown, Courtyard Asheville, and SpringHill Suites Asheville. McKibbon built his first Asheville hotel 20 years ago, and he is now completing renovations to the former Branch Bank and Trust skyscraper across the street from the AC Hotel for a fifth Asheville project, the Hotel Arras and Arras Residences. McKibbon now manages 83 hotels in 40 cities under 16 brands.
