Julie Mulhern and Joretta Ezell are challenging the old adage, “If you want something done go do it yourself.” They realize that, while outsourcing for something like event planning or pet sitting can sound nice, locating an available and trustworthy party can often take more time than the project itself. So, they launched Magnolia Concierge. Running out of Lake Junaluska, the company serves the luxury lifestyle needs of parties living in or just visiting Western North Carolina. Charging by the hour, they offer to do things, big or small, their clients would prefer not to do. It could be something as mindless and inconvenient as waiting at home for the cable guy, or something as intensive as conducting a research project. They can perform labor-intensive acts like packing and unpacking for people moving in or out of the area or provide personal, creative touches with flower arranging or shopping for that perfect gift. They can do the weekly grocery shopping or perform the earth-shattering feat of locating a housekeeper who is not allergic to work and will actually show up—every time. The two do all this by tapping their extensive network of well-established contacts in the region.
